About Us

Roadford Lake Sailing Club has been running for 12 years, and its main aim is to organise dinghy racing on Sundays throughout the year. In addtion to our Sunday racing we organise club regattas at Easter, Whitsun and take part in the Goodacre Cup, hosted by South West Lakes Trust on the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The Roadford Fleet

During the year, we will have around 100 different boats racing with us. The more popular spring, summer and autum series attract about 30 boats, with 15 - 20 boats racing on a Sunday. The classes racing are varied, from Toppers to International Canoes and Flying Dutchmen, singlehanders, doublehanders and cataramans.

If you view the Racing Results you'll see the range of classes racing at Roadford and all dinghy classes are welcome. In recent years we have growing fleets of Lasers (4.7, Radial and full rig), Finns and Toppers.

All RLSC members are expected help with Race Officer duties (probably a couple of times a year), but training is offered if you've not been a Race Officer, or you are a little rusty.

As well as providing racing the club is keen to encourage new members and race training is available, just ask a committee member or post to the forum if you would like to take part in a race training session.

So how much will it cost?

The 2010/11 Racing fees are currently:

  • £25 per boat for April 2010-March 2011
  • £12.50 per boat for under 18s
  • £2 per boat per day for visitors
